TabLift Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-10-13

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the TabLift browser extension, the TabLift Android and iOS apps, and this website (together, the "Service"), operated by Travis Gottsch ("we", "us"). By installing, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

What the Service does

TabLift cleans up and reformats guitar tab and chord text, generates chord diagrams, and lets you save tabs/chords to a personal library. Core functionality works fully offline and without an account. Creating an account (via Google or Apple sign-in) is optional and enables syncing your library and settings across devices. A paid Pro subscription unlocks additional features described in the app and on this site.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Third-party tab and chord content

TabLift can import and reformat tab/chord text you find on other websites, and its optional Search feature can surface results from third-party tab/chord sites. That content belongs to its original publishers, not to us — TabLift only stores a reference (like the title and source URL) for content imported from another website, never the third party's text itself, on our servers; that text stays on your device. Text you type or paste into TabLift yourself is stored with your account so it syncs across your devices. You're responsible for how you use any third-party content, and for having the right to save anything you add.

Copyright complaints

We respond to notices of claimed copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and terminate the accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances. See our Copyright Policy for how to send a notice or counter-notice to our designated agent.

Intellectual property

TabLift's software (the extension, the app, and this website) is proprietary and protected by copyright. It may not be copied, modified, distributed, or used without our express written permission. Your own saved tabs, chords, and library content remain yours; we don't claim ownership of anything you create or save.

Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON'T GUARANTEE THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT CHORD/TAB OUTPUT WILL BE MUSICALLY ACCURATE.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US, IF ANY, IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.

Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service for anyone who violates these Terms, including repeat infringers under our Copyright Policy.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

Changes to these Terms

If we make material changes, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
